I remember summer ending...and to take advantage of the summer remaining, I'd chill with friends to end it with a bang.
I went to Vallejo about two weeks before classes started to go to a birthday party. I wore my Air Jordan I. Chilled with cool people, and even played football in the dirt. I looked down afterwards and saw my shoes a little dusty and creased.
My Royal Blues have been worn like they should be - played in with respect. I knew I could clean and take the creases out them easily, so it was all good.
Before we were on our way back home, I took my shoes off to let my feet breath. Got home. Walked into the house without my shoes on (I usually leave a pair or two in my car). Got into bed and crashed. I woke up to a beautiful Sunday morning to make my way to Starbucks, and as I got ready and made my way to my car...my world slowly fell apart. My driver-side window was shattered. I checked my GPS, charger, insurance, and registration forms in my car. All of it was there...except for my Jordans. They were stolen. I haven't felt this violated since I got cheated on...this, as a matter of fact, actually felt worse. These shoes were more than just shoes...more than $150...more than any cash a Jordanhead would offer me...more than leather and rubber. To some...it may seem dramatic how I conceive such offense, but to understand is to experience. I loved these shoes more than a thing of materials put together, but not more than I would love a person...but still.
I let some people know about it to keep an eye out, because these aren't that common. Some talk tells me that they've been left in the middle of Capitol Expressway, but only the thief would know. Violated and frustrated as I was, and still partly am, I can't hate...but rather feel pity to such a person who would commit a thievery and treat the loot with disrespect...I mean atleast keep them clean and untorn, YOU KNOW?!?!?!
I don't think I can ever own another pair of these...EVER.
Here's a tribute to you, my friend.
P.S. on a lighter note: I had a pretty good day. Thanks for letting me vent.
