UGLYHERO

Some have asked me, "Why an ugly hero?"

It all started with history and comic books. I know these two types of written media don't fit together in the same sentence (well, atleast according to nay-sayers and narrow-minded old timers who've completely dismissed comic books). Taking Asian-American Studies (thank you Mrs. Habal and Mr. Hanasaki btw...) has taught me that there are always two sides - although unclear who is the protagonist or the antagonist; the hero or the villain; the love or the hate; the beautiful or the ugly...there is never a perfect side. A perfect protagonist does not exist. An antagonist filled with ONLY hate does not exist. Hate does not exist without love, nor does beautiful exist without ugly.

Kamakazis did what they did, not because they didn't value life, rather they did it because they valued life beyond their own...they valued life itself - of their people, their children, and their children's children. Bruce became Batman from the ugly fact that he's turned his love into hate, to transform his feeling of loneliness into the driving force of his vigilance.

That's why I call myself the UGLYHERO. Though nowhere near perfect and invincible, I strive to be strong. Though nowhere near success, I will never give up. That's what makes me.
